+ Your office is too far from me. Can I still work with you?

Absolutely! Our office is located in the Scottsdale, but all you need is a phone and laptop or tablet to work with us. We can share our screen and discuss your sitution in the privacy of your own home or office. In fact, even some of our local clients prefer to work this way. It's really up to you!

+ If I call- what can I expect?

Expect a friendly conversation! We’ll want to know what your financial goals are, about where you are at financially as far as assets and income, and what you would like to accomplish by working with a qualified financial advisor. After a discussion, we can decide if it makes sense to set up a complimentary introductory meeting.

+ If I hire you- what can I expect?

Initially, there will be lengthy discussions to determine risk tolerance, values, and goals. Financial planning is an ongoing process of gathering information on your finances and on current tax laws and our economy; looking at the variables that affect outcomes, and seeing which decisions have the most potential to improve the outcome. We work through this process with clients on an ongoing basis, providing education and advice that can help them reach financial goals. We prefer to meet with you at least 2 times per year, but we're available to discuss your financial plan at any time that is right for you.

+ What makes you different from other advisers?

+ What types of things do you give advice on?

  • Determining if Roth conversions make sense
  • Developing and implementing a plan to exit out of concentrated positions in company stock
  • Evaluating the value of an NUA distribution strategy for company stock in a retirement plan

  • Setting up a withdrawal plan including tax withholding, direct deposits, and a monitoring system
  • Calculating quarterly tax payments needed once retired
  • Allocating 401(k) investments
  • Refinancing and using home equity lines of credit
  • Using existing annuities and evaluating annuity products in context of their plan
  • Purchasing or cancelling life insurance products

+ How are your services priced?

We have three distinct tracks within our business model, the first of which is fee-based planning. We are happy to assist you with goal-based planning on a subscription basis or for a fee. From an investing standpoint, we are licensed and able to work in an advisory (fee-based) or brokerage (commission-based) capacity. Our most common track is the Investment Advisory and Planning structure. We often include our planning services within the fee-based structure.

+ Why do you use the Client Explorer method of service?

Through decades of experience and while keeping an eye on the future of our industry, we recognize that our full value to clients lies beyond simply asset management and insurance skills. Our desire to integrate planning to provide ongoing reference to your important goals and real-time risks requires a thorough research and review process. Our Client Explorer method and associated technology provides us thorough knowledge of your situation and gives our team the ability to be your proactive guide into the future.

Our team is continually communicating with our clients’ outside advisors. Knowledge of a client’s specific situation is necessary to efficiently manage their portfolio and financial life at large. As such, we are actively in communication with client CPA’s throughout the year to help manage tax strategies as well as assisting during tax season. That same proactive research and communication is conducted with clients’ legal, insurance, lending and banking professionals, among others.

+ How will you invest my money?

Our investment services are based upon your goals and needs, time horizon and tolerance for risk. Our structure allows for access to the nearly all of the universe of investment products, as well as thousands of strategists and investment models. Recommendations will be based upon your investment goals, size and tax nature of investment, agreement with your investment philosophies and our collective desire to pursue your goals.

+ Are you a fiduciary?

Yes! Our work as a fee-based advisor mandates the fiduciary standard, and the nature of our work in advising and planning entail utilizing and abiding by the fiduciary standards.

+ How will you consider my assets that you don't directly manage?

Our systems will allow for a consolidation of data to allow our firm to view and consider those assets we don’t manage. Our recommendations and ongoing reporting and review visits will address those assets and our flexibility allows for revision of our strategies to best suit the pursuit of your goals utilizing all asset sources.

+ How will you manage my accounts for taxes?

Our firm and team spend a significant amount of time coordinating with clients’ tax advisors in an effort to understand the larger picture. Thereafter, we utilize tax harvesting strategies to mitigate taxable gains as well as to offset carry-forward losses. We have access to all tax-deferral and tax-free strategies and integrate tax diversity into our planning approach to assist in the greatest possible flexibility for your future.

+ How do you measure success??

Our success is collective. Via mapping, tracking and working to pursue your family’s or business’s goals we will have executed upon our duties to you. When utilizing our firm’s full service of planning and investment management, you can expect ongoing updates and benchmarking of your progress towards those goals. We also recognize that life will create variables, and we are eager to alter and revise our planning and strategies for these realities!
